The Japanese Ministry of International Affairs says one among its senior officers will attend an upcoming memorial occasion to honor the victims of pressured labor on the nation’s Sado mines.
In line with the ministry on Friday, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for International Affairs Akiko Ikuina will go to Sado Metropolis from November 23 to 24 to attend the memorial service.
South Korean Ambassador to Japan Park Cheol-hee will reportedly attend on behalf of South Korea.
The occasion will happen on the Aikawa Improvement Middle on Sado Island to honor Koreans and different employees pressured into laborious labor throughout World Conflict II.
It’s the first memorial occasion to be held because the mines have been added to the UNESCO World Heritage checklist in July, and is without doubt one of the follow-up actions South Korea and Japan agreed to as a situation for the inscription.
