A North Korean cargo ship suspected of smuggling coal in a foreign country reportedly sank within the Yellow Sea final month after colliding with a Chinese language vessel.
Citing a supply aware of the matter on Thursday, Seoul-based Yonhap Information reported that the North Korean cargo ship, which was crusing with its automated identification system turned off, sank after colliding with a Chinese language vessel in waters close to a southeastern Chinese language port in late February.Â
Rescue operations led by Chinese language authorities reportedly saved only a few North Korean crew members, and 15 to twenty others are believed lifeless.Â
The Chinese language ship reportedly sustained minor injury.
North Korea and China seem to have stored quiet concerning the accident since exports of North Korean coal are in violation of the UN Safety Council sanctions.
