An Indiana Military Nationwide Guardsman deployed to Iraq in assist of Operation Inherent Resolve died Saturday in a non-combat incident, Protection Division officers introduced Monday.
Capt. Eric Richard Hart, 34, of Indianapolis, Indiana, died on Dec. 28, in response to a short launch.
The Pentagon didn’t present further particulars relating to Hart’s demise, which is at present underneath investigation.
Hart was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, thirty eighth Infantry Division, of the Indiana Nationwide Guard in Indianapolis.
“The Indiana Nationwide Guard extends our heartfelt and sincerest condolences to the household and buddies of Capt. Eric Hart who died in a non-combat incident whereas abroad serving with the thirty eighth Infantry Division in assist of Operation Inherent Resolve,” the Indiana Nationwide Guard stated in an announcement. “Our ideas are with them and the troopers who labored and served alongside Capt. Hart. He was an integral a part of our group and the Cyclone Division group as effectively. He will likely be missed.”
Hart was a quartermaster officer for the thirty eighth Infantry Division, in response to the Indiana Nationwide Guard. He commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2015 from the officer candidate faculty at Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
His awards embody the Meritorious Service Medal, Military Commendation Medal, Military Achievement Medal and Military Reserve Element Achievement Medal, amongst others.
