Eversheds Sutherland‘s Irish arm is in talks to affix William Fry, with discussions going down over a deal that would see the worldwide agency’s companions and workers in Eire break free to affix the home agency.
Eversheds has had a presence within the Irish market since 2005, when it secured an alliance with legacy agency O’Donnell Sweeney. It now has workplaces in Dublin and Belfast, underneath the management of managing companion Alan Connell.
William Fry is one in all Eire’s most distinguished regulation corporations, using 350 authorized and tax professionals, alongside a complete workers of greater than 500, together with 79 companions.
A spokesperson for William Fry confirmed: ‘William Fry has engaged in exploratory discussions with senior representatives of Eversheds Sutherland Eire concerning the prospect of their companions and workers becoming a member of William Fry LLP. Any potential transaction stays topic to the approval of each companion teams and any relevant regulatory approvals.’
In a separate assertion, Eversheds Sutherland confirmed that its Irish workplaces are “in early stage merger discussions with William Fry”.
‘By their nature, these discussions are confidential and no additional remark can be made till they’ve concluded,’ the assertion continued.
Eire’s enchantment to international regulation corporations continues to develop, with UK corporations like Pinsent Masons, Simmons & Simmons, DLA Piper, Fieldfisher, Clyde & Co, and DAC Beachcroft opening workplaces in Dublin, solidifying its position as a key hub for worldwide authorized companies.
Information of the discussions comes after Eversheds recruited tech and IP companion David Kirton in from William Fry two months in the past.
Eversheds’ Connell beforehand instructed LB in October 2023 that there can be no pullback in the dimensions of ambition from multinationals investing in Eire, together with tech, vitality and pharma corporations.
