Preston city centre dispersal order in force after Flag Market protests

A part of Preston metropolis centre has a dispersal order in pressure following small-scale protests on the town’s Flag Market which threatened to spill over into violence.



Preston Police has introduced a section-34 order masking a part of the town targeted on the world across the Flag Market.

Throughout Saturday (3 August) afternoon round 20 to 30 protestors massed on the Flag Market and chanted anti-immigration slogans and wrapped themselves in England and Union flags.

They had been met by a counter-protest group who disputed the claims made by the protest group throughout an intense stand-off on the sting of the Flag Market earlier than police dispersed the protest teams into Church Avenue the place visitors was briefly stopped.

A police spokesperson stated: “We have now this afternoon issued a Part 34 dispersal order for areas of Preston metropolis centre.

“We don’t take choices like this frivolously; nonetheless, it has been mandatory to take action due to ongoing anti-social behaviour.

“The order has been put in place to stop dysfunction and permit different members of the neighborhood to benefit from the metropolis centre with none subject and runs till 10pm.”

An elevated police presence has remained within the metropolis centre all through Saturday afternoon.

The map under exhibits the world coated by the section-34 order which runs from the highest of Friargate by the college campus, to Lune Avenue, alongside Fishergate and Church Avenue all the way down to Ringway and again to Friargate by way of Walker Avenue.
